VINETA KAULACA

Waiting Room

„The relations with space have changed suddenly. The feeling of sparse time that we experienced in the spring has changed spatial relations too. Empty cities, streets, stations, airports, museums, theatres are no longer the result of a consciously guided imagination, but a new reality. The stream of initially unbelievable images that flooded the public media space has proven, that empty spaces are a sign of their times.
Intermediate state. The border state that creates the new reality. Increased awareness of the moment. Reality, as a changing system of relations, is constantly evolving. Perspective, full of tension, stretches into the unknown.
While creating this exhibition, I continue to work on a range of topics that view space, spatial relations and time as dimensions that can be seen due to change, shift of perceptual focus, distance. My creative activity is focused on spatial structures, the perception of which is enhanced and reproduced after purifying it from the superfluous. A space that stops the time or, on the contrary, runs ahead of it, captivating the gaze at the infinity of perspective. A space that creates a memory of its time. New reflect upon the new experience gained during this time” - Vineta Kaulaca.

Vineta Kaulaca's exhibition "Waiting Room" not only reflects the new relations and states of time and space, but also shows a new starting point - self-sufficient and free from its creator. The latest paintings are independent of their predecessors and are not a continuation of them. (Ilze Zeivate)
