HELENA HEINRIHSONE "Woman"

“There is so much beauty in the world and the world is obsessed with beauty.
Roses and breasts have been the symbols of beauty troughout centuries. Treasures known to everyone – women, men, children.
Madonnas, courtesans, peasant women and noblewomen are celebrated in the world of art.
The source of life.
Even today. We are here,” Helena Heinrihsone, 2021.

The latest exhibition by Helena Heinrihsone is intended as a tribute to all the women in the world. In this series of new works a special emphasis is put on the emancipation of woman’s physical and mental beauty, drawing a parallel between the aesthetics of body and elements of nature. The beauty of a woman's body in relation to the nuances of daylight. Intimate direct transformation into generalization, on a level of images and symbols. Emphasizing the importance of intimacy and slightly erotic intuition both in the development of critical thinking processes and in the perception of body and natural processes today.

Heinrihsone is in principle an idealist of painting.  Her world is ruled by talent, imagination, emotions and contemplation and a belief that it all has a place in today’s world. Her strength lies in the ability to change, to go into the unknown, to discover the new and to return to what was once found. Helena Heinrihsone has graduated from the Art Academy of Latvia (1973). She has received the Art Acdemy of Latvia prize (2016), Lielais Kristaps (The Big Kristaps) prize of Latvian Filmmakers Union for the best animation feature artist (2008), Latvian Museums Association Prize of the Year (2007), as well as IV class Order of the Three Stars – highest civilian order awarded for meritorious service to Latvia (2008). Helena Heinrihsone’s works are in public collections: Latvian National Museum of Art (Riga, Latvia), Atrists’ Union of Latvia Museum (Riga, Latvia), ZUZEUM Contemporary Art Collection (Riga, Latvia), Museum Ludwig (Cologne, Germany), State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow, Russia), Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum (Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NY, USA), European Central Bank Art Collection (Frankfurt, Germany), Bank of Latvia Art Collection (Riga, Latvia), Swedbank Contemporary Art Collection (Riga, Latvia).
