Vilis Ozols (1929)

Vilis Ozols - is one of the most sensitive latvian colourists, a master of shades.

He has achieved the highest recognition and popularity in the genre of still life already since 1960s.
His artworks reveal a marvelous multi-layer painting that conjures a resounding accordance.

Vilis Ozols is searching for harmony in painting.

The depicted objects, the relationship between their volumes and contrasts serve only as a background.

In his still-lifes we see exquisite tonal solutions, carefully developed texture, well-known objects in geometrical forms, a logical composition.

The artist is constatly searching for the ideal relationship between the composition and the colour; therefore in his still-lifes we encounter the same objects, however, in changed variations, repeatedly.
