Aigars Bikše (1969)

In 1995th artist graduated Latvian Academy of Art.
Since 1998th Aigars Bikše is Accosiated Professor of Latvian Academy of Art  and he is director of Visual Plastic Art Faculty.
Artist participates in exhibitions since 1990.

At first, in his sculptures a Aigars Bikše accented plastic of shape, constructively classifying ranges. Mostly sculptures are made of gyps, wood, also are used untraditional materials like paper, plasticine. Afterwards Aigars Bikše turned to making a conceptualy solved object and installations.

In creative work Aigars Bikše often uses social objects and characters putting them into the space of social life and generalizeing them into the simbols of charactive age or metaphor, frequently as a way of presentacion he uses shares. His works usually describes untraditional mode of expression, incitement, an element of performance, the openness of interpretation.

In his prior impressive exhibition „The Time will save History" (2010, Maksla XO Gallery, Riga) Aigars Bikše showed himself to the public as greate plastic master. Artist presented his artwork - traditional sculptures, which was made of bronze, wood and composite material.

The­re are mis­sing parts or un­fi­nis­hed de­tails, or fi­gu­res are left in the mid­dle of trans­for­ma­ti­on in­to another dif­frent cha­rac­ter. Me­mo­ries which falls ap­art and trans­for­mes. Re­al­sti­cal lan­gu­age of for­ma­ti­on and the the­me ap­plies for claim of the documentary mes­sa­ge.

From this exhibition the sculpture „The Red Latvian Rifleman Five Minutes before the Explosion of an Aviation Bomb" (2010, bronze, 67x32x58) was included in a collection of The Latvian National Museum of Art.
